Landfill methane collection near
Montana-Dakota Utilities is a step closer to launching its methane collection program in the city landfill.
On Friday, crews began installing a large compressor that will suck natural gas from the ground, compress it and clean it before shooting it into MDU’s pipeline. The installation should be complete in November, and gas should be flowing by December, said MDU gas superintendent David Hood.
“This piece, the compressor-blower skid, is the last major piece of equipment we were waiting on,” Hood said. “With the amount of piping and wiring it takes, it’s going to take us a couple of months to get it completed.”
